PSI Javed Pathan's death - Probe transferred to A'bad Rural police

Four days after the tragic accident, questions still linger about the circumstances surrounding the cop's death

Almost four days after PSI Javed Pathan of the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) died in a road accident while trying to stop a Creta car suspected of smuggling liquor, the investigation has been moved from Surendranagar police to Ahmedabad Rural police. This decision was made late on Friday evening.

Head Constable Krishnadevsinh Jadeja of the SMC filed an FIR stating that after receiving information about liquor smuggling, three SMC teams were deployed.

One team was stationed in a Mahindra TUV 300 at Gopal Hotel near Dasada. Another team, including drivers Mujjamil Qureshi and Aijaz, was positioned at a Dhaba on Patdi Road.
