Farsan shops across A'bad witness long lines as city witnesses record sales of delicacy; biz worth over Rs 5cr done in a day
Dussehra in Ahmedabad resulted in the usual long lines outside farsan shops across the city, as Amdavadis gave in to indulging Fafda-Jalebi, a beloved traditional Gujarati delicacy.
The gorging also upended economic theories as the demand for the delicacy remained unrelenting despite a noticeable surge in prices — Fafdas and Jalebi each costing Rs 1,200 per kg in some areas.
Many shops reported record footfalls as early as 6 am. Local trade associations say they might have sold thousands of kgs of Fafda and Jalebi, resulting in over Rs 5 crore business for sweet and farsan vendors.
