National interest above all for PM Modi: Bhupendra Patel

On the 50th anniversary of the imposition of the Emergency, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, speaking at the Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas (Constitution Murder Day) event, described the Emergency as a dark stain on the democratic fabric of India.

Reflecting on the grave assault on constitutional values by the then government and Prime Minister, Patel said the day is observed to ensure that both present and future generations remain aware of this dark chapter in India's history — and, in doing so, nurture a sense of pride and respect for the Constitution.
