Rann Utsav has pulled ahead of last year's tourist numbers despite heavy monsoon flooding that kept Kutch's white desert partly submerged until October.

The world-famous salt desert has attracted 7.20 lakh visitors so far this season (till January 16) compared to 7.18 lakh during the same period last year, according to Gujarat Tourism department data.
