In a groundbreaking decision, the Gujarat High Court has appointed Court Commissioners to directly gauge cooperative housing society members' wishes about a stalled redevelopment project. After reviewing the panel's findings, the court gave the go-ahead for redeveloping the Ambawadi-based Patel Baug Cooperative Housing Society.

A bench led by the Chief Justice heard an appeal from eight dissenting members who had contested a single-judge order requiring them to vacate their flats.
