Gujarat ranks 9th in India in stray dog population, with an estimated 8.5 lakh stray dogs on its streets, making it a serious concern, especially in cities.

The data, based on a 2019 Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) survey, predicted a 2% annual population increase.
