Drive against high-intensity LED headlights
Ahmedabad Mirror
|January 22, 2026
Officials say the blinding glare from nonstandard headlights has contributed to a rise in road accidents, some of them fatal.
-
According to an official communication sent to all Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) and assistant RTOs, the government has been receiving persistent complaints about the “blinding effect” of aftermarket LED modifications. Motorists have reported that the extreme brightness of oncoming lights momentarily deprives them of vision, forcing them to drive virtually blind for several metres.
This dazzling or stunning of the eyes, officials warn, sharply increases the risk of head-on collisions and accidents involving pedestrians.
