A CARE home for men with complex needs has been given permission to expand despite the owner of the next door property's concerns about the privacy of his poorly children.

'What about my kids' privacy?' ... but expansion approved

London-based Active Care Group is to convert 138 Whalley Road in Accrington into an annexe to its existing premises at number 136.

It will accommodate three residents, stepping down from the main care home which accommodates nine men.

Hyndburn Council planning committee granted planning permission for the extension with three conditions despite a plea to reject it from Mohammed Razaq who owns and is renovating the property on the other side.

He told the meeting last Wednesday afternoon that he had two young children with health conditions and was worried about their loss of privacy when playing in the garden.

Mr Razaq said he would not have bought his new house and invested his own money in renovating it if he had known about the plan.
