Still no new date for tragic teen’s inquest
SEVERAL missing friends of Jay Slater are still being sought following an urgent police witness appeal as his family are still left without answers almost a year on after his death.
The tragic 19-year-old, from Oswaldtwistle, was found in a ravine after a month-long search in the mountains of Tenerife last summer, near to where his phone last pinged.
He had disappeared after a night out with friends on June 17 and a post-mortem — examination concluded he died of traumatic head injuries, consistent with a fall from height.
Lucy Law, Brandon Hargreaves, Brandon Hodgson and two other men were sharing accommodation with the apprentice bricklayer the night before he went missing. They made statements to both local and UK media about the teenager.
However, they were not present at the inquest into his death that was opened at the end of May by Lancashire’s Senior Coroner Dr James Adeley.
The proceedings were abruptly halted when Jay's distraught mother Debbie Duncan made a desperate plea for help in finding them.
Some of them have since been located, although the date for the inquest to resume has not been confirmed:
LUCY LAW
Lucy Law was one of two friends who came on holiday with Jay from his native Lancashire last year and the 18-year-old helped get early search efforts off the ground, assisting the teen’s family when they arrived to help.
