Nominations now open to choose sporting heroes

The Active Hyndburn Awards 2025 will take place at Accrington Town Hall on Friday, September 26.

Gregg Stevenson MBE, gold medal winner in the mixed double sculls at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, will be joining as a special guest.

Gregg, who grew up in East Lancashire, said: "Sport has the power to transform lives - I've lived that first hand. Growing up around here, I know how much local clubs and coaches give to young people, not just in sport but in life.

"I'm proud to be part of celebrating the incredible individuals and teams that make Hyndburn stronger, healthier, and more connected through sport."

Anne Ellwood, Trustee of Hyndburn Leisure, added: "The Active Hyndburn Awards are a true celebration of the people who make our community vibrant, active, and resilient.

"Every nominee reflects the values we hold dear - inclusion, dedication, and passion for helping others lead healthier lives.
