SLIM SHRIMPERS JUST CAN'T CUT IT

SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher believes the Shrimpers are being found out for cutting corners following defeat at home to Hartlepool United.

Southend led twice before suffering their second setback in the space of five days.

And Maher feels the club’s off-field problems are causing havoc with his plans.

“You can’t cut corners with pre-season and you can’t cut corners every which way we have done as a club,” said Maher.

“You get found out and that’s what happens. We need players, that goes without saying.

“We haven’t signed anyone for a year now and it’s pretty obvious to anyone what’s needed.

“The players and staff are incredible but they need help.

“It doesn’t need me to say it but that’s where we are.”
