LANDMARK FOR NICHO IN TOWN'S TITLE PUSH

It's 500-up for Anchors' skip on a glory journey

THERE really is no place like home for Stockton Town stalwart Adam Nicholson as he prepares to make a landmark appearance for the NPL East leaders.

The wily centre-back will make his 500th appearance for the Anchors this week after becoming an integral part of their progression from the Step 7 Teesside League to the brink of promotion into the Northern Premier League’s top tier.

Nicholson’s lengthy list of achievements is as impressive as his longevity, boasting five league title wins, three promotions, five cup final wins and a Wembley appearance in the FA Vase Final.

But the biggest leap forward could come in the next three months as Nicholson and his team-mates aim to secure a fourth promotion in eight seasons and one that would see Stockton compete in Step 3 for the first time in their history.

Such achievements would mean so much for any player, but for Nicholson, achieving success with his hometown club will always remain special.
