Beat the winter blues
AAAH, the flat, grey coughy winter months. For the home-maker, cough syrup is easy, fun, and exceedingly popular. You can change some ingredients according to what grows nearby, but here's a starter recipe:
Liquorice twigs:
traditional dark brown taste, helps loosen mucous (expectorant) and relax chest (antitussive); add to:

very mucilaginous so loosens a dry cough: chop and simmer together for 30 minutes, then add:
