Women Torchbearers of Viksit Bharat - Designing a legacy

Think of an Indian brand that can be described as craftconscious, colour-creative and, somewhat ungrammatically but aptly, as candescent-calm. Good Earth India is probably the first name you will think of. And Anita Lal, the face and force behind this uniquely iconic brand, is a pioneering driver of the luxury lifestyle and design industry in India.

A History of Heritage

Founded in 1996, Good Earth has been driven by Lal's deep appreciation for India's rich cultural heritage. She identified a market gap - the urban Indian consumer looking for high-quality home products that were contemporary yet rooted in India's design language. As a studio potter acutely conscious of the dying traditions of India's village potters, this represented an opportunity both entrepreneurial and conservationist. Over time, this extended to other aspects of India's artistic heritage, and today, Lal can be largely credited for having brought India's village crafts into contemporary relevance by bridging traditional crafts with modern aesthetics.
