3 PM onwards: The news of the attack spreads nationwide, and internationally. All channels and news websites report the attack.

5 PM: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirms the attack.

6-6.30 PM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah condemn the attack in social media. Modi cuts short his Saudi Arabia state visit.

9 PM: Shah lands in Jammu and Kashmir, holds high-level meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Abdullah.

10:30 PM: Kashmiri leaders such as People's Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti calls for a Kashmir Bandh on April 23. It is supported by other parties.

APRIL 23

More details of the attack begin to emerge from security officials; survivors admitted to hospitals.
