Dr G Ramakrishna Achar emerges as an innovator and technological wizard in the ever-changing landscape of India through sustainable development and economic growth
-
Dr Achar’s journey from a humble beginning to becoming one of the most respected industrialists and social entrepreneurs of India is a source of inspiration for new-age entrepreneurs. His breakthrough came when he trained at the prestigious Central Food Technology and Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysuru, which marked the beginning of a lifelong journey in engineering, innovation, and social change.
G Ramakrishna Achar’s achievements are a testament to scope and perspectives in the Indian work landscape for those who want to start off as MSMEs. With Rs 25,000 as seed capital, Achar started a fabrication business catering to the agriculture, water management, and sewage treatment sectors. Today, his company boasts an annual turnover of Rs 365 crore and employs over 3,000 people, ranging from skilled professionals to semi-skilled and unskilled workers.
Global Innovation at Grassroots
A significant pioneering innovation in modern paddy processing units saves India an estimated 30 percent of harvested paddy each harvest season. The first paddy boiler plant was installed in 1991, using a cutting-edge machine with an inbuilt dryer that effectively controlled moisture levels and preserved the quality of rice over long periods. This breakthrough revolutionised the paddy industry by reducing wastage and bringing substantial economic gains. Achar’s innovation in agriculture has since been adopted by numerous paddy-growing nations in the world, which won him the honorary doctorate from Mangaluru University.

Anatomy of a Horror

Her story, along with the account of Haley Robson, echoed the trajectory of many other victims, revealing a pattern of grooming, coercion and silence that endured for decades, and raising uncomfortable questions about power, accountability and whether justice has truly been served to Epstein's victims

Marina Abramović's work is active, alive and pressingly contemporary.
