The Missing Bombers of Trump 2.0
Newsweek Europe
|May 08-15, 2026
President Donald Trump's second term is easy to read if you focus only on the visible damage: tariffs, agency purges, courtroom fights, public threats.
-
But that is not always where the real damage is.
During World War II, analysts mapped bullet holes on bombers returning from Europe and assumed those were the spots that needed more armor.
The statistician Abraham Wald saw the flaw. The planes that made it home were the survivors and the fatal hits had landed elsewhere. Trump 2.0 may work the same way.
