LIKE many collectors, my Corinthian journey started one Saturday morning with a routine trip to Woolworths.

Walking through the magazine aisle and past the VHS and SNES games, I resisted the pick 'n' mix sweet stand and arrived at the toy section at the back of the shop.

I can still vividly recall seeing Corinthian football figures for the very first time, the white shelf stocked with the vibrant blue packaging of the England Squad Collection.

I was instantly mesmerised, buying my first Corinthian figure - Alan Shearer in England 1996 kit - never guessing that this debut purchase would start a fierce passion for collecting that has lasted over 30 years.

From that moment onwards, Corinthian football figures have remained a constant in my life. What began for myself and my brother Glenn as a way to remember our favourite players, club heroes and more obscure journeymen swiftly turned into a healthy obsession for me. Okay, at this point it is probably an addiction!

In my youth, the vast majority of my pocket money was spent on Corinthian figures and now, as a 39-year-old, a percentage of my income still goes towards increasing the collection.
