Over the last few months, there has been some great excitement in the world of motor racing, from Verstappen’s domination in F1 to the last-gasp overtakes of Ross Chastain in Nascar. Of course, as gamers, we would like to emulate these moments in our living rooms. But when it comes to racing games a controller won’t cut it, you need the steering wheel and only the best steering wheel there is, thankfully we have a list of the best racing wheel peripherals on the market today.

Thrustmaster T300 RS / TX

For many racing enthusiasts, the Thrustmaster T300 RS / TX is the go-to steering wheel of choice purely based on the fantastic force feedback system. Unlike other racing wheels on the list, the T300 is not geared, but rather uses a series of belts that are powered by brushless motors. This gives it that perfect mix of power and smoothness, for a sense of realism and immersion you can’t really beat at the price. However, one minor drawback with the belt system is that it does cause a fair bit of heat after a while, necessitating a fan system that kicks in after you’ve been playing for 10 minutes or so. Fortunately, it’s not too distracting and is considerably quieter than the competitors out there. The steering wheel is great and offers a lot of grip, unfortunately, it does use a rubber grip and can get quite slippery after a long play session. One big issue some gamers might have are the pedals themselves. Although the pedal caps are metal, the construction itself is a basic plastic that doesn’t offer the stiffness of a great board. This is however a minor setback to an otherwise fantastic racing wheel.
