Chopard once again proves how versatile the Alpine Eagle is when it comes to materials, complications and colours. We take a closer look at the first platinum version of the sports watch, the new Flying Tourbillon in Lucent Steel, and the high-frequency SL Cadence 8HF with a ceramicised titanium case— the lightest watch ever presented in the collection, and most likely also the one most sought-after by collectors.

The Alpine Eagle is a family affair. Forty-five years ago, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele convinced his father, Karl, to produce a steel sports watch designed to meet the sophisticated, action-oriented needs of the St. Moritz lifestyle. The eponymous collection was born in 1980. History repeated itself when Karl-Fritz became fascinated by a St. Moritz watch found on his father's desk and persuaded him to revive it. This modern reinterpretation, launched in 2019, therefore stems from three generations of family collaboration. To Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-president of Chopard, the Alpine Eagle collection is “the ultimate embodiment of our most precious assets, combining the best of our past and our present: Watches entirely produced in our Manufacture, equipped with our in-house movements, inspired by nature and forged in an innovative steel: Chopard Lucent Steel A223, as precious as gold.”

Platinum
Chopard is adding a platinum Alpine Eagle to its horological flock (Ref. 295396-9001) in 2025. The 41-mm automatic sports watch is based on the ultra-thin '41 XP' case and paired with a reshaped platinum bracelet. Combined with a new 'Shades of Ice' blue gradient dial, inspired by Alpine glaciers, this version offers a central seconds display (as the “CS” in its name indicates), and is water resistant to 100 metres, like its two siblings introduced later.
