Veteran Taggart star turns Americana singer with new band and musical

- PAUL ENGLISH

A Wee Blether With...Blythe Duff

A lot has changed since the days of playing DI Jackie Reid in Taggart for 25 years. Do you still find that people recognise you?

When I was doing Wild Rose at the Lyceum in Edinburgh earlier this year, I would get the bus home after the show. I turned 62 this year and decided to get my bus pass sorted. So I'd be seeing people on the bus who had been in to watch the show, and they'd know me from being on the stage a few minutes before, which was funny.

You scored a chart hit with Scots songwriter Cameron Barnes when you recorded a cover of Fairytale Of New York during Covid. Was this when you decided to pursue music?
