THE ESSENTIAL APPROACH:

KISS (KEEP IT SIMPLE, SOCIALITE!)

When you sense that the conversation is naturally coming to an end adopt a demeanor and smoothly say something like “It’s been very nice meeting you. Do you have a card so I can have your contact information. Thanks.” That’s it. No fuss. No muss. No big deal. Don’t apologize because you have to go network and definitely don’t’ say you see someone else you need to talk to. Simply thank them and move on.

ADDING A TOUCH OF CHARM

When you want to add some excitement to your exit strategy think of it as putting a twist on a Shakespearean play. Remember something from your conversation like your dislike for Mondays or your shared love for vintage vinyl records. Then smoothly transition into your Bond departure. This finesse captures the essence of your discussion. It also showcases your attentive and engaging networking skills.
