From celestial complications to rare stone dials, this curated selection highlights timepieces from avant- garde maisons reshaping modern watchmaking.
-
In the world of haute horology, there is a growing circle of watchmakers who are reshaping the boundaries of craftsmanship.
These aren't the iconic names that have dominated the industry for centuries, but rather, the visionaries forging new paths in timekeeping. In this curated edit, we celebrate the cutting-edge designs that are now available in India. These niche watchmakers' creations are as much about artistry as they are about time.
Urwerk UR-150 Scorpion Titan
This niche brand is just three decades old in the horological universe. But the UR-150 Scorpion Titan is decidedly avant-garde, with its crown at 12 o'clock and a unique satellite design on the dial. The 42.49 mm watch houses a self-winding movement and displays hours on three different satellites on the dial. The lower part of the dial features an arc displaying the retrograde minutes. At the end of each hour, the satellites 'reset' to reveal the next-an intriguing hourly ritual on the wrist. It's also among the most complex watches ever made. urwerk.com
Hautlence Sphere Series 1The 20-year-old brand is an anagram of Neuchâtel, the Swiss watchmaking hub. Known for design-forward, complex timepieces and signature 'TV-shaped' cases, Hautlence has a cult following. The Sphere Series 1 features a revolving globe for jumping hours, arched minute display, and a sporty 43mm steel case that's water resistant to 10 ATM. It's limited to 28 pieces. hautlence.com
