On June 14, the unexpected passing of Philippe Stern at the age of 88 felt like a profound pause in that collective heartbeat.

As the third generation of his family to guide Patek Philippe, Stern inherited this revered house and spent over three decades acting as the stubborn, brilliant guardian of mechanical watchmaking when the rest of the world was ready to abandon it to the sterile convenience of the battery.
