FIFTY-EIGHT YEARS after its first ride as a Staten Island Ferry, the John F. Kennedy became a punch line. The retired ship was sold at auction in January 2022 to a group that includes comedians Pete Davidson and Colin Jost and comedy-club owner Paul Italia, who said they had big plans to turn it into a floating venue. Then it just sat at a dock as tabloids reported on the lack of action and skeptics wondered if the owners were in over their heads a story line the comedians didn't seem to mind. Davidson told reporters he and his castmate were very stoned when they bought the ferry, and Jost responded by asking on Instagram whether it was "worse that I was actually stone-cold sober?
