Inside the operating rooms of Currumbin Wildlife Hospital on the Gold Coast, you'll find its veterinarians hard at work, dedicated to protecting our beloved koalas.

A team are currently in the midst of a five-year vaccine research program to treat the local koala population against chlamydia. The disease is one of the most significant threats to their survival. If left untreated, it can cause infertility and permanent blindness.

Four years into the trial, the team have vaccinated more than 460 koalas.
