They say home is where the heart is, and that rings true for Natalie Barr. The Sunrise host has been based in Sydney for more than three decades now, but she'll always have one foot in the great state she grew up in — Western Australia.

Originally from Bunbury, about two hours south of Perth, Nat recently returned home to spend some quality time with her mother, Julie. After losing her dad, Jim, from ventricular heart failure in 2001 — while she was six months pregnant — Nat has an incredibly close relationship with Julie.

“It was so beautiful to spend some time with Mum. I love going back — there’s nothing like going home,” Nat, 57, exclusively tells New Idea. “It’s just such a wonderful feeling landing [at the airport].”
