Remember that ad about the new mum expecting visitors who was stressed out about the state of her loo? Many of us want our homes to be clean, and worry about what others think of us. Having a neat, clean home can be satisfying.

During Covid lockdowns, we noticed the state of our homes even more because we were spending more time in them.

Pre-Covid, we spent around $4.6 billion a year on household cleaning products, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The market continues to grow, with Australians having a love affair with clean homes (or at least the aspiration of having one).

Who hasn’t been transfixed by a cleanfluencer Instagram reel or YouTube clip showing how to clean an oven or a shower screen in seconds? If not, where have you been?
