UNWINDING IS A NATURAL TASK AT A FLORIDA HOME THAT IS MORE EVERYDAY THAN GETAWAY

AT EASE

The directives seem so simple. Relax. Pause. Take it easy. But amid the general chaos of life, making good on those in-theory leisure commands is often easier said than done, especially day to day.

Enter Inlet Beach, Florida. It sits on the Sunshine State’s famed 30A highway and is recognized for vacations that are rooted in dreamy white sand beaches and the Gulf of Mexico’s turquoise waters. One couple takes advantage of the coastal environment year-round, without any concern for remaining vacation days from work or rental property availability.

imageTo extract the dreamiest of their land’s vacation leanings for the interiors of their 2022 new build, the couple called on Minneapolis designer Bria Hammel. Her assignment was to fashion easy-come, easy-go spaces that created a home base of serenity—a tall order for an active and growing family of five that now includes three small children.

image“Even though the house is in a coastal town, the home-owners didn’t necessarily want all the conventional details of coastal design,” Hammel says. “My goal was to give them a home that was timeless and orderly but inspired a casual and laid-back lifestyle.”

The color scheme of the interior plan was selected as a breath of fresh air, visually speaking, with pale hues telling the story of a family that sought quiet time to balance the busyness and joyful noise of life with small children.
