This Bengaluru apartment by Priya Shankar of The Design C is a modern rendition of Chettinad aesthetics
In the bustling lanes of Bengaluru, lies a residential gem Marakadham (Tamil for 'emerald') - a 2,618 sq ft, three-bedroom apartment. For Sivagnanam, a data scientist, and Iswarya, an associate director at a product firm, this is their first home.
"Siva and I have very different personalities," Iswarya shares with a laugh. "But we both love simple traditional homes and antiques. That's where our vision for Marakadham began a space with colour, soul, and a touch of south Indian heritage."
From the intricately carved Sagwan teak door to the curated collection of antiques and personal mementoes, the home tells the story of a couple who values connectionboth to each other and to their roots. Taken by the exceptional designs of Priya Shankar, principal and creative head at The Design Corner in Bengaluru, they decided to reach out through Instagram.
