PLAN IT BEFORE YOU PANIC

No one wants heat leaking out of windows, radiators trapped behind sofas or only a few warm patches in the house. The time to think about heating is when you're at the room-planning stage. Don’t leave it until it’s an afterthought and get the ball rolling as early as possible - you can thank us next winter. ‘Preparation and installation are as important as the heating device itself,’ says designer Greg Natale, director of Sydney-based architecture and interiors firm Greg Natale. ‘Heating is an early consideration. Work closely with engineers and builders to coordinate placement, ventilation and power requirements everything should be mapped out alongside lighting, electrical and plumbing to avoid conflicts down the line. A bit of careful planning upfront saves a lot of hassle later.’
