When homeowners Rob and Janice found the perfect site to build their forever home in Co. Antrim, they wanted to make the most of the beautiful surroundings and stunning views.
-

If this Irish home looks familiar, it is because it recently received the winning title of Home of the Year on the recent RTÉ series of the same name. Judges Hugh Wallace, Amanda Bone, and Sara Cosgrove all agreed that this architectural new build stood out above the other six finalists.
This is our dream home and it was a daunting experience sharing it with others on Home of the Year, but of course, we are delighted to have taken part, and to have won is a real reward for all of the hard work that we put into it,' says Janice.
As soon as they viewed it, the couple fell in love with the site, which is situated on the Antrim coast and also contains an old motte and bailey. With its rich woodland and stunning sea views, they wanted their home to complement the surroundings and used as many natural materials as possible in order to do so.
'Although not originally from this area, Rob and I have lived here for the past 18 years. We knew we had one more move in us and for many years had been looking for the right opportunity to present itself in the area. Having extended and renovated our previous home, we weren't ruling out a self-build but like houses, sites are few and far between here too,' explains Janice, who was tipped off on this one thanks to a trip to her hairdresser!
