Theatre producer, writer, actor and proud Robert Burns fan, James Allan Clements shares his favourite places to eat, drink and be merry

My work is storytelling. Whether I'm acting, writing, teaching, producing or curating projects, I strive to tell those stories in an intellectually solid way with a deeply researched background, and they need to come from an emotional space as well. My interest in documentary source-based theatre definitely stems from my childhood historical obsessions. I'm talking Titanic, the Romanovs, Mary Queen of Scots - I was, and still am, totally absorbed by the drama of these big historical moments. They really spark my imagination. I do find it funny that I’ve managed to turn my nerdiness into my career, getting commissioned to research these things and turn them into plays and productions. It is my joy in life and my driving force.
