A beautifully handwritten note in one of the living rooms of Bluebell Farm gently asks guests not to open one particular window overlooking the walled front garden.

Just outside, it explains, there's a family of nesting birds who might accidentally fly in. Nestled down a country lane, beside a pretty Norman church and opposite a one-acre paddock, Bluebell Farm's setting is perhaps as dreamy and - birdsong aside - as peaceful as the Devonshire countryside gets.
