Cliff hanger

Set into the cliffs above a beach on the wild North Cornish coast is an ultra-sleek retreat that could be straight out of a Bond movie.

The brief to the architects, Rundell Associates, was to create a no-compromise seaside home for two families, and maximise views of the sea. The result is a structure that fulfils all the client requirements - sitting on a plinth of local stone, it is sunk deep into the cliff and is sheltered by an outward-facing copper-clad overhang that has been left to weather, producing a blue-green patina.
