Incorporate spa-like luxury into everyday life with a garden design that puts health and wellbeing at its heart
-
Rather than reserving spa experiences for the occasional holiday or trip to your local health club, incorporating your favourite facilities into your garden makes practising daily self-care nearly effortless.
PLUNGE POOLS
Plunge pools are the most recent wellness trend and are credited with the ability to elevate mood, help muscle recovery and boost immunity. Use as a way to cool down after time in the sauna, after exercise, or just to kick-start your day. At their most basic, plunge pools require a vessel and a hose, making them the easiest way to incorporate at-home wellness into your garden. Prices start at £40 for basic models – or even lower for DIY approaches – rising to over £4,000 for designs with chillers and pump systems. According to Renu Therapy, 'research suggests a temperature range between 10C and 15C is optimal. This is cool enough to activate the body's physiological responses but not pose a risk to the body's core temperature.'
Consider a plunge pool with an air source heat pump (more economical than electric versions). This power source can serve as a chiller for the pool, but opens up the potential to be converted into a hot tub when desired.
