HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GLOW...

Enjoy the features of your garden as night falls with carefully designed lighting that illuminates their beauty
When dusk descends, our gardens can be transformed into magical spaces, with structures and planting taking on a new dimension. This is where carefully positioned outdoor lighting can play a central role, drawing attention to the texture and shape of trees, shrubs or decorative features, and creating a sense of depth and space with the interplay of light and shadow.
Identify the key features in your garden in daylight that you want to illuminate and consider the use of multiple sources of lighting, whether this is to guide you along garden paths, uplight trees or shrubs, illuminate water features, or draw attention to sculptural or artistic features. Uplighting can provide a more contemporary feel, whereas downlighting might be a softer approach.
UPLIGHT GARDEN ELEMENTS
Uplighting can be an extremely effective way to enhance trees, plants or features within a garden. If consideration is given to the position of the luminaire, the effect can be subtle and stunning in equal measure,' explains Jo Mann, founder and design director at Light House Designs. It can be used to create very different effects. If it is positioned in front of the object, it provides a wash, to the side will define shape and from behind will cast the object into silhouette. Columns can have a dramatically different appearance if the light is set at the front, side or back,' Jo adds.
