Armed with nature-inspired colour schemes and botanical wallpapers, Hollie Moreland set out to return country charm to her home in the Cotswolds
-
Perfectly matched, the house's impressive silhouette, symmetrical and shining in the frost, instantly draws the eye, but this wasn't what captured owner Hollie Moreland's heart. 'I knew that this house would be able to adapt to whatever I needed it to be,' she says. 'Day to day, it feels like a cottage, while still having the potential to be opened up into a spacious farmhouse, perfect for hosting all the family for festive celebrations.'
Despite its Georgian appearance, venture beyond the threshold and visitors are greeted by a much older property. 'At its core, it's a Jacobean farmhouse,' explains Hollie. 'But there's been a lot of work over the centuries, with outbuildings - like the stables - being incorporated into the building and extensions added, including the Georgian frontage.' It was this intimate farmhouse feel that Hollie was desperate to restore. 'The traditional country-home style had been knocked out of it, leaving the house feeling very cold and soulless,' she says. 'It had stark lighting, minimal furniture and was painted in jarring colours that just didn't sit right with the farmhouse's traditional roots.'
