Griddle POWER
Better Homes & Gardens US
|July/August 2025
Flattop grills are the hottest outdoor cooking tool of the summer. If you've mastered the grill, now level up your skills with this versatile toy.
Joining the Griddle Club
With a large flattop instead of grill grates, a propane griddle provides an even cooking surface for pretty much anything you want to prepare. The ability to adjust the heat on separate burners (depending on the model and size) makes it particularly handy to cook multiple items at once.
SEASONING 101Just like a cast-iron pan, your griddle top needs to be seasoned with a layer of oil in order to keep its protective, nonstick surface. You can find a Blackstone oil blend specifically for griddles made from shortening, beeswax, and soy and canola oils. You can also use an oil with a high smoke point such as avocado, canola, or grapeseed.
Keepin' It Clean
Maintain your flattop’s steel cooking surface to prevent rust and maximize its longevity by cleaning and seasoning after each use.
