ORANGE CRUSH
Everyone will fall in love with the warm colors and woolly textures of this felt garland. Assemble orange slices and stuff golden stars. String the shapes with felt leaves and wool balls. It's easy to adjust the length to suit any mantel or shelf.
DESIGNER: ANNIE DELGADO
MATERIALS
☐ Felt: dark orange, ivory, light orange, brown, gold
☐ Sewing thread: gold, ivory, light orange, dark orange
☐ Needles: sewing and yarn
☐ Polyester fiberfill
☐ Fabric glue
☐ Straight pins (optional)
☐ Yarn
☐ 20-millimeter wool felt balls: dark red
CUT OUT THE SHAPES
Trace patterns in Pattern Pack onto white paper; cut out. Trace eight large circles onto dark orange felt, four small circles onto ivory, 36 triangles onto light orange, eight leaves onto brown, and 10 stars onto gold. Cut out shapes.
ASSEMBLE THE STARS
Go to page 94 to see stitch diagrams. Stack two gold stars. Use gold sewing thread to blanket-stitch the shapes together, leaving a small opening. Stuff the star with polyester fiberfill and blanket-stitch the opening closed. Repeat to make four more stuffed stars.
ASSEMBLE THE ORANGE SLICES
Center a small ivory felt circle on top of a large dark orange felt circle. Using a running stitch and ivory sewing thread, stitch the pieces together along the edge of the ivory circle.
Arrange nine light orange felt triangles on top of the ivory circle so all triangles point toward the center. Use small dabs of glue or pins to hold triangles in place, if desired. Use light orange thread and a running stitch to attach triangles to the circle to complete the orange slice front.
Using a blanket stitch and dark orange thread, stitch a large dark orange felt circle to the back of the orange slice front. Repeat to make three more orange slices.
