Faye and Gary Mortimer's 1930s mock Tudor home was in need of modernistion and the couple were in need of more space, so a major renovation was the answer

When a family has lived in, and loved, their home for a long time it's a challenge on many levels if they decide to give it a top-to-toe refurbishment" says interior W designer Angela Simpson (simpsonandvoyle.com.) She and her partner Laura Voyle had an existing relationship with Faye and Gary Mortimer having worked on their London apartment and homes of mutual friends. The 1930s mock Tudor house had served Faye and Gary well for 15 years but with four growing children, aged between 10 and 23, requirements had changed and the house felt outdated. 'It was spacious with five bedrooms and a large garden, but also quite dark with small rooms and awkward spaces,' says Angela. 'It was just crying out to be modernised so the family could fully enjoy it.'
