Iraj and Gemma Ali’s modernised Edwardian home is now a stylish and eco-friendly family space where everyone can coexist in harmony

Iraj and Gemma Ali were on the hunt for a fixer-upper they could turn into their own private sanctuary, away from the chaos of daily life. With two teenage children - Charlie, 19, and Scarlett, 17, plus several pets, the family wanted a house that could provide ample space and separate hangouts for everyone to enjoy. When they found this detached Edwardian home in southwest London, they fell in love with its period charm and yet they could see it had the potential to work for modern-day family life.

Once the family moved into the property, they lived in the house for a few months to get a feel for the space and think about what changes needed to be made. While they hadn’t intended to get an interior designer involved, they met Camilla Kelly, founder of The Mint List, through a mutual friend and hit it off with her instantly. ‘As soon as we met Camilla we knew we wanted her on board,’ explains Gemma. ‘She understood our priorities, lifestyle and goals and we loved her style.’
