TOP 12 COIN & PRECIOUS METALS TIPS & FORECASTS

- SCOTT A. TRAVERS

Scott Travers' 2025

High demand for gold in physical markets combined with Middle East and European tensions and conflicts could well propel gold to record levels in 2025. Goldman Sachs forecasts gold at $2,900 per ounce in early 2025, citing interest rate cuts in the West and China and higher Central Bank purchases.

And it’s not just the yellow metal that’s shining. JP Morgan issued a forecast for silver to average $36 an ounce in 2025.

Enter precious coins made from precious metals. Geopolitical tensions and the United States on edge from one-in-a-thousand-year storms occurring twice in a month have focused attention on two types of gold and silver coins.

One spotlight is on coins that have high gold and silver content and low premiums above their melt values. These conventional bullion investments form the core of many investors’ hard money asset holdings. In a sense, large quantities of carefully housed gold and silver bullion coins are stores of wealth that serve as a hedge against calamity. They are also revered in some circles as the ultimate insurance against economic downturns and blood in the streets.

The other spotlight shines on high-value junior trophy gold coins that are an asset class unto themselves. These high-store-of-value coins are easily transported (slip one into your pocket) in the event of an emergency and provide a semblance of safety in a tumultuous world.

So with those concepts in mind, I present here a dozen coin-collecting and investing tips and forecasts for 2025.

imageNO. 1: GOLD BULLION

Considering the exceptional momentum we’ve seen for gold and related coins, my No. 1 pick is gold bullion itself. Over centuries, gold has been one of the leading stores of value of any kind; and gold has become a universal currency.
