A new literary work of privately struck gold coinage types and varieties issued during the most romantic period in the history of the United States, along with its distinguished authors, were recognized with highest honors by the prestigious Numismatic Literary Guild (NLG) in August.

America's Golden Age: Private & Pioneer Gold Coins of the United States 1786-1862, by Donald H. Kagin, Ph.D. and David J. McCarthy, was named both "Book of the Year" and "Best U.S. Coin Book" at NLG's awards lunch in Rosemont, Illinois, at the American Numismatic Association anniversary convention in August.
