NPPA revokes its direction refusing discontinuation of GSK's Grisovin FP 250

THE National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revoked its earlier decision under which the Authority had refused discontinuation of antifungal scheduled formulation Grisovin FP 250 mg, from pharma major GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals (GSK), observing that there are other players in the market and the company's market share for the drug is low.

The decision is expected to help GSK discontinue the drug from the Indian market, which it initially proposed over four years ago.

The company requested for discontinuation of its scheduled formulation Grisovin FP 250 mg containing griseofulvin, which is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, nails, scalp, or hair, due to the closure of its overseas active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) supplier.
