FPME's Export Pe Charcha highlights merchant exporters' role

In a recent discussion titled “Export Pe Charcha” organised by the Federation of Pharmaceutical and Allied Products Merchant Exporters (FPME) in Mumbai, stakeholders from the merchant export and allied products sector came together to deliberate on the critical contributions of merchant exporters in reinforcing India's global position as the "Pharmacy of the World.

The dialogue emphasized on the indispensable role of merchant exporters in expanding access to affordable medicines globally, especially in under-served and remote markets where Indian manufacturers or MNCs may not operate directly.

It was advocated that FPME should be called for all export related consultations by the government authorities, as 60-70% of the number of shipping bills per month are filed by merchant exporters.

A key focus of the discussion was the significant contribution of merchant exporters in enhancing the capacity utilization of Indian pharmaceutical manufacturers particularly MSMEs.
