CDSCO simplifies online provision for import of medical devices, IVD

THE Central Drugs Standard Organisation (CDSCO) has brought in changes to its online system for approval of medical devices imports in order to simplify and expedite the process for import of medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) which are already approved by the Central Licensing Authority CLA.
The drug regulator has said that it has added a separate provision for 'Subsequent Importer' in the CDSCO online portal for import of already approved medical devices and IVDs by the CLA under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017.
The CDSCO has initiated various steps in the recent times in order to simplify the regulatory approval procedure and with an aim to bring more transparency and accountability in the regulatory system.
It has published several 'Tool Tips' in the website to give more clarity on the technical requirements etc., while making applications in the portal for regulatory approval.
