PART 3 BEST FOR BOLD COLOUR

It's August and we're at the zenith of high summer. To match the temperature, it's a great time to add hot colours. The borders may be brimming, but containers can take the overspill. A neutral pot like this is perfect for bold arrangements. I've chosen reds and yellows, so the plants will glow right into autumn. Dahlias are fantastic for prolonged flowering, as long as you remember to continually deadhead them.

The deep-red Dahlia 'Dark Spirit' accentuates the leaves of the fountain grass. The bright reds of the cannas are real beacons in this arrangement, erupting through the joyful yellow bidens.
