ANUGA FOODTEC-2025 witnessed a congregation of industries from across the food processing domain, be it processing, packaging, ingredients, logistics, or machinery. On the second day of the three-day mega event, we interacted with Mr. Pranshu Sharma, Area Sales Manager, Wipotec. During the interview, Pawan Lohani, Sub-Editor of Food Infotech Magazine for Food Processing, enquired about innovations, sustainability, and new developments across different segments of Wipotec's product portfolio.

WIPOTEC: Accompanying the Evolving Food Processing Landscape in India

The Indian Food Processing Landscape is evolving, and Metal Detection Systems are an important part of food safety protocol. How is Wipotec trying to cater to the Indian food processing market?

As you know, in the food market, metal detection is basically a mandatory requirement. So for most of the packaging types, we need to have a metal detector in the line because, first and foremost, for safety reasons, you need to detect the contamination so that the consumer does not consume it. Wipotec is one of the leading weighing and inspection solution providers. We also provide inspection solutions like X-rays to the food processing industries. In India, we recently started working with our new partner (Safe Automations Group), and we are already developing fast in this market. We have been present in India for more than 15 years in both the metal detection segment as well as checkweighers, and now we have started to expand more in this field.

How is India's policy aiding the food processing industry, and do you see an upthrust in that work?

Definitely. So in terms of competition, I would say, the market, to be very honest, is already saturated because it is not something new, it is not a niche market. So most of the consumers are already using metal detectors, and of course, competition is there, but at the same time, you know what happens, many consumers are also not happy with the machines they are using. So, with the recent government policies are becoming stricter. It is not just for metal detection, but overall food contamination. In the recent one or two years, there has been a rise in requests for X-ray machines as well. In terms of food, we are one of the top five producers in the world, so many global customers are also coming up with new factories and new lines, so of course, there is always going to be a requirement.
