The 4th edition of Heli Summit India was hosted in Kashmir on 10th October in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Lt Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha and other dignitaries. The current year event theme was 'Helicopters for last Mile Connectivity' and the minister updated about the work done in the sector and his future plans.
The Ministry of Civil aviation is working forward to establishing an aviation network in all across the nation. Setting up air connectivity though airlines and helicopters has yielded tremendous growth trajectory in terms of passenger flow and employability. While inaugurating the 4th Heli-India Summit 2022 in Kashmir, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia talked about the vision of J&K for developing aviation infrastructure and other landmark steps taken by the state govt.
EXPANSION OF AVIATION INFRASTRUCTURE IN JAMMU & KASHMIR
The Civil Aviation Minister said that a civil enclave will be built in Jammu at a cost of Rs 861 crores and the Srinagar's present terminal will be expanded three times from 20,000 square meters to 60,000 square meters at a cost of Rs 1500 crores. The landmark step taken by the J&K government to decrease VAT on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) from 26.5 percent to one percent is a positive step of the state government in enhancing the aviation capabilities of the state. This has resulted in 360 percent increase in refueling, thus increasing the air connectivity to Jammu and Kashmir. At present, more than 100 flights being operate from J&K daily due to the supportive aviation policy of the government.

HAL signs MoU with UAC Russia to produce SJ-100 Aircraft
In one of the major developments, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, the India Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of Govt of India and Russian Public Joint Stock Company United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC-UAC) have signed a MoU for production of civil commuter aircraft SJ-100.
